My lastest Necklace

I saw this necklace in a magazine and copied it pretty close. I definitely added my style and spunk to it but I loved how it turned out.

I used pearls, seedbeads (4 different styles), stones, crystals, and it was 42 inches.

What is Color Blocking?

I recently have been watching Fashion Star which has been fun to see young desingers be put to the test of creating pieces (clothing) for 3 major companies that think these items will sell in their stores. If you have never watched the show and you like Fashion Trends then this is a great show to watch.

Last week they talked about Color Blocking and I have heard that statement before seen it in many fashion seasons but just wanted to make sure I had the right concept.

"A Chic Direction" Blog says this about Color Blocking:

Color Blocking is combining different colors that support and compliment each other. Are you brave enough to try it?

From the Author of ACHICDIRECTION- if your having trouble blocking colors try complimentary color blocking. Why? Complimentary colors are natural opposites so they work very well together. Wikepedia states that Complementary colors are pairs of colors that are of “opposite” hue in some color model. The exact hue “complementary” to a given hue depends on the model in question, and perceptually uniform, additive, and subtractive color models, for example, have differing complements for any given color. Check out the color wheel below to reference any colors that would look good blocked together.

"Indian Makeup and Beauty Blog" says this about Color Blocking:

Color Block fashion is one of the hottest new trends for the season. It combines the use of two or more blocks of colour in an ensemble. This could be for a top, bottom, tunic, a dress and even a handbag or shoes. Simply it means – creating an outfit by putting areas or blocks of solid color next to each other. It can include monotone, bright colours, muted colors, contrasting and complimentary colors. Clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories can all feature color block designs or can make up different blocks of color to be put together for a color block outfit.

I love this concept. I have done this in my jewelry many times and I think it makes a great statement to the piece.

Cardigans - Pearl Necklace

I love me some Cardigans. I can't get enough of these but what I have learned is quality is key. I just bought 2 Cardigans from Maurices and I love there Cardigans. About 11 years ago I bought a Green color and it has not faded or lost its shape. However, it has lost all its buttons but 2 and through the years small holes have started to show up so it has now become just a home "cardi" it just goes to show you how much I loved that thing. I give Maurices "Cardi's" a thumbs up. :o)

So to go with my Purple Cardigan I was inspired from a white and silver pearl piece that in the magazine cost $199.00 so obvisioly I knew I could do it cheaper and more to my taste.
I used .014 inch accu-flex wire (4 strands), 2 12mm sterling silver plated balls, silver seed beads, 6-7mm peachy colored Pearls, 8mm peach round pearls, and 4mm light brown crystals to create my pearl necklace.

I am one who loves to not always do pieces that are mathcy, matchy. I do like to do that once in a while so don't get the wrong impression that matchy matchy is a no, no I just like to mix things up a bit.
I am thinking for this pretty LANTANA color I want a Turquoise piece. I am still thinking what I want to do.

And Yes, here is the green cardi. This picture doesn't really do it justice for all the great years that it served me but I still can't give it up just quite yet.
