My lastest Necklace

I saw this necklace in a magazine and copied it pretty close. I definitely added my style and spunk to it but I loved how it turned out.

I used pearls, seedbeads (4 different styles), stones, crystals, and it was 42 inches.

What is Color Blocking?

I recently have been watching Fashion Star which has been fun to see young desingers be put to the test of creating pieces (clothing) for 3 major companies that think these items will sell in their stores. If you have never watched the show and you like Fashion Trends then this is a great show to watch.

Last week they talked about Color Blocking and I have heard that statement before seen it in many fashion seasons but just wanted to make sure I had the right concept.

"A Chic Direction" Blog says this about Color Blocking:

Color Blocking is combining different colors that support and compliment each other. Are you brave enough to try it?

From the Author of ACHICDIRECTION- if your having trouble blocking colors try complimentary color blocking. Why? Complimentary colors are natural opposites so they work very well together. Wikepedia states that Complementary colors are pairs of colors that are of “opposite” hue in some color model. The exact hue “complementary” to a given hue depends on the model in question, and perceptually uniform, additive, and subtractive color models, for example, have differing complements for any given color. Check out the color wheel below to reference any colors that would look good blocked together.

"Indian Makeup and Beauty Blog" says this about Color Blocking:

Color Block fashion is one of the hottest new trends for the season. It combines the use of two or more blocks of colour in an ensemble. This could be for a top, bottom, tunic, a dress and even a handbag or shoes. Simply it means – creating an outfit by putting areas or blocks of solid color next to each other. It can include monotone, bright colours, muted colors, contrasting and complimentary colors. Clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories can all feature color block designs or can make up different blocks of color to be put together for a color block outfit.

I love this concept. I have done this in my jewelry many times and I think it makes a great statement to the piece.
